Two Canton-area have been charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, after feds learned of a shipment of nearly one ton of marijuana.

Ray Sanchez, 46, remains in custody, while his co-conspirator, Andy Fagan, 29, has been released on bond.

According to CantonRep.com, Sanchez allegedly arranged to have 1,700 pounds of marijuana shipped in a semi-truck from Mexico to Ohio, with the arrival date of August 15. Authorities had learned the pot would be hidden inside recycling equipment.

Homeland Security agents intercepted the marijuana at the border crossing in Loredo, Texas.

Earlier in the month, the FBI said it intercepted a Federal Express package with $20,000 in cash en route to Sanchez’s contact in Texas. According to court papers, Fagan was listed…
